Mya Chartrand: When Tech Meets Chaos

In a techno-thriller, cases aren't won on the ground alone — through interrogations or stakeouts. They're also fought, and often won, in the shadow of secured servers, where data piles up and secrets refuse to die.

Today I wanted to introduce you to a character who shakes things up and brings a fierce breath of modernity to Shadows of Dubai: Mya.

A sharp, unconventional mind

Émile's niece, Mya is a freelance cybersecurity specialist with formidable talent. As her uncle puts it, she outclasses any forensic IT technician hands down, thanks to her speed of execution and her own singular vision of networks.

At just twenty-three, she runs on caffeine and the adrenaline of secured servers, carrying that particular digital exhaustion unique to genius-level coders. Visually, she breaks the mold: a bold style, hair in electric hues, and forearms marked with tattoos inspired by circuit diagrams and astronomy.

The key to the digital puzzle

Behind her striking look, Mya possesses formidable clarity. She's the one with the skills to dive into the guts of a system and pull off the impossible — including decoding that infamous USB drive that sets the entire plot in motion.

In a world as heavy as the one in my novel, Mya brings a unique energy — a mix of unconventionality and pure genius that upends traditional investigative methods.

💡 Behind the scenes: Mya's DNA

Mya brings a breath of fresh air and an unstoppable punk energy. I wanted her to be a genuine visual "glitch" in a reality that's otherwise too polished. Her look and her coding genius reflect her ability to break the most complex systems, and her relationship with her uncle Émile offers a generational clash I had a great deal of fun weaving into the story.

Step into the matrix... right this way 🚀
