Self-Publishing: When Writing Is the Easiest Part! 😉

When you imagine an author's life, you often picture someone sitting peacefully by a window, coffee in hand, patiently waiting for the muse of inspiration. Let me tell you, in self-publishing, reality looks a lot more like a high-speed project management sprint!

Between updating my website, configuring the online store, maintaining my Facebook page, and working on Excel spreadsheets... I'm almost starting to think that the easiest part of this whole adventure was actually writing the novel! 😅

Add to that a full-time analyst career that demands all my concentration during the day... just making the list makes me out of breath myself! 🤣

Right now, we are in the very final stretch before the release of Shadows of Dubai, and the machinery is running at full speed. Here is a little peek at the logistics behind the scenes:

  • The Big Relay: My manuscript is currently in the hands of my copyeditor, Catherine-Anne, who will return it to me no later than June 4th (I opted for a basic copyedit to ensure an impeccable, professional result). As soon as she passes me the baton, I'll validate her corrections and send everything to Noémie, my graphic designer, for the crucial step of layout and final cover design. (She already has my summary and bio to get a head start—we love to optimize!).

  • The Admin Side: This is the invisible part of the iceberg. Tracking pre-order inventory (there are only 9 exclusive bookmarks left for the print editions, by the way! 📈), managing transactions, planning shipping logistics... In short, I'm wearing ten hats at the same time.

For the structured person that I am, it's a thrilling challenge. It requires rigor, but seeing this project materialize brick by brick thanks to your support is an incredible source of pride.

The final countdown ends on June 11th at 11:11 AM.

Thank you for being on the team with me for this final sprint!
